Your website is the virtual shopfront for your business and it needs to complement your brand and work together to create a consistent brand message to your customers. Your website needs to be dynamic, well-structured and creatively designed so it will attract, inform and engage your customers. Here are a few design tips we would like to share with you today to ensure you have a professional and well-designed website:
Research. Look at other websites with a direct purpose of finding what you like and what you think would work for you. Everything from layout, colours, concepts and fonts.
Keep it clean and clutter free. Don’t clutter your up your website with excessive text and images. Embrace white space, keep it clean and simple. Make it an easy experience for your site visitors. Less is more.
Make your text easy to read. Plan a theme, with a maximum of 2 or 3 fonts. Don’t use a font that is too small. Use a font that can read across multiple devices and browsers.
Do your colours work together? Pick a theme, flow on from your logo and don’t over load the page with too much colour or unnecessary graphics. Again less is more.
How does your website look on mobiles and tablets?
Keep your graphics and photos small in size. The larger the file, the slower your page can be to load.
Invest in good professional photography or purchase good stock photography.
Design every page as a landing page. Don’t assume they are always going to land on your home page.
Make sure content is clear and to the point. Answer your customers questions, before they have to ask them.
