Brochures are a convenient and cost effective way to share information about your business and promote key messages to your customers and prospects. A great eye-catching design and a professional print job will make all the difference when you are advertising your key message using brochures. A4, DL (or more accurately 1/3 of an A4) and A5 brochures are quite common, but we can create any size you need with a variety of paper stocks available.
Let’s take a closer look at the most common sizes of brochures available:
A4 – 297mm x 210mm
The A4 brochure is one of the most popular of all paper sizes when it comes to printing brochures. It is the most commonly used paper size in the world and one that consumers are the most familiar with. Whether you want to print on a single A4 sheet as a single sided or double sided brochure, or want the folded finished size as A4, there are a few options:
A4 brochure printed single sided or double sided.
4pp (means 4 printed pages) A4 brochure. This is actually an A3 sheet that is folded to A4 size.
6pp (means 6 printed pages) A4 brochure. This is printed on a larger sheet (630mm x 297mm). Then can be either z folded or roll folded to A4 size.
A5 – 148mm x 210mm (half the size of an A4 sheet)
The A5 brochure is half the size of an A4 sheet and another popular option for brochure printing. It is smaller and more compact and is most commonly printed as either an:
A5 brochure printed single sided or double sided.
4pp (means 4 printed pages) A5 brochure. This is actually an A4 sheet that is folded to A5 size.
1/3 A4 – 99mm x 210mm (Commonly known as DL)
The 1/3 A4 brochure, or more commonly known as DL is another popular brochure size. The term DL is actually in-accurate when describing this type of brochure. The term DL actually refers to the DL envelope size which is 110mm x 220mm. So typically, when customers say they want a DL brochure, they actually need a brochure that will insert into a DL envelope – which is 1/3 A4. We’ve decided to brand this type of brochure as DL Lite. Another great reason for printing at 1/3 A4 (DL Lite) is that it’s compact enough for cost effective direct mail campaigns or letterbox drops. The most common options with the 1/3 A4 (DL Lite) is:
1/3 A4 (DL Lite) brochure printed single sided or double sided.
Quite often we are asked for a folded DL brochure. This is actually an A4 sheet printed double sided then folded into thirds (1/3 A4). This can either be z folded or roll folded to the 1/3 A4 size.
Unique Brochure Sizes
Companies looking for ‘outside of the box’ ideas for brochure sizes are becoming more common and a way to stand out from the crowd. We can print and trim to any shape or size here at The Print Group. Square sized brochures such as 210mm x 210mm or even die-cut to a particular shape make for an interesting option too. Take a look at this fun brochure we did for Bert Van Manen. It was die-cut and shaped like a do not disturb door hanger. Very creative!
